Attorney Assisted Divorce, P.C. is a local law firm here to serve you with an economical option for divorce. We prepare all the documents necessary for your divorce, and you do the rest, including filing your documents at the courthouse, getting your spouse’s signature, scheduling the court date and appearing before the judge by yourself. If you’re not comfortable doing all these things by yourself, or don’t have the time, our attorneys will handle everything for you for an additional fee .
When you come in for your appointment, you will meet with an attorney and be able to ask any legal questions. You will receive the advice you need to make informed decisions about what is right for you. Our documents are drafted by attorneys. Your customized divorce pleadings will be prepared under the supervision of an attorney. Our documents are guaranteed to satisfy all current legal requirements of Oklahoma law. We also provide you an instruction manual that explains the steps involved in filing your divorce.
Most document preparation services are by nonlawyers, who cut-and-paste documents from other samples with no full understanding of the legal significance of each provision of the document. There is no licensing requirement for paralegals in the state of Oklahoma. Anyone can call themselves a paralegal. Having documents prepared by a nonlawyer may result in you unknowingly waiving important legal rights that could cost you thousands of dollars, or compromise your custody rights.
Is Attorney Assisted Divorce Right for Me?
If you and your spouse are seeking a divorce and are in complete agreement about all the terms of dividing your belongings and debt, we can prepare all the documents necessary to complete your divorce. When everything is in agreement, this is known as an uncontested divorce. If you have children of the marriage, we will also prepare the necessary custody and child support documents.
To proceed as an uncontested divorce requires the cooperation of your spouse. They must be willing to provide information about all debts, vehicles, real estate, income and any other financial information that needs to be addressed in the decree of divorce. Your spouse must also willingly sign all of the court documents. If your spouse will not cooperate, or you do not know where they are, your divorce is not uncontested. We can still assist you in getting divorced, but it will not be a "do-it-yourself" option and it will be more expensive and time consuming.
